It was an up and down night for the Lady Eagles, but they gained confidence and pride to pull it out in the last two matches.
Alisha Farner led the team attack on Thursday night’s win. Farner had 16 kills, eight aces, five digs, and one block on the night. Lacey Pulley added in 38 assists and two blocks while Chandler Blake helped with 36 digs. Alyssa Anderson led the team effort in blocks with three assisted and three solo for six blocks and five digs. Caylee Knafel also had one dig and one block while Elaine Horn had five digs. Emma Frericks had 19 digs and Gabby Jones had 9 in the Lady Eagles’ victory.
The Lady Eagles headed back to Bluffton Saturday morning to compete against the hosting Bluffton Tigers. Churubusco fell in five matches 21-25, 25-12, 22-25, 25-20, and 15-17 to the Tigers.
Farner again led the team on Saturday. She had 10 kills, eight aces, eight digs, and one solo block. Pippenger had 12 kills and 21 digs. Pulley had 30 assists, one ace, and 21 digs while Blake had three aces and 26 digs. Also helping the Lady Eagles was Anderson with three blocks and nine digs. Knafel also had six digs and three blocks while Frericks had 11 digs and Jones had 10. Horn also had one block in the Lady Eagles’ loss.
