University of Saint Francis rallies to win 39-31

Backup QB David Yoder scored go-ahead TD with 1:25 to play in the third quarter and Kyle Mathewson scored twice in the fourth quarter to help the Cougars rally from a 24-13 deficit (second quarter).

Yoder replaced USF starting QB Josh Miller, who suffered dehydration during halftime on a sweltering afternoon despite a total cloud cover. Yoder finished 14-for-18 passing for 126 yards in the second half. Yoder’s one-yard sneak with 1:25 to play in the third quarter put USF back in the lead, 25-24. Though USF (2-0) missed the point-after try, the Cougars scored two more times in the fourth quarter.

Mathewson scored on a 10-yard run at 11:08 boosting the USF lead to 32-24 and the Churubusco High School grad added another on a 1-yard run with 2:15 to play.

Antoin Campbell led USF rushing with 123 yards on 25 carries for his fourth 100-plus rushing effort. He scored on a 2-yard run drawing USF to within 24-19 with 51 seconds to play in the first half.

Austin Coleman scored twice for USF in the first half on TD receptions of 29 and 26 yards.
