Chairman of Commissioners Don Amber said he is “tickled to death” that CANI has a place to call home in Whitley County.
“I think it’s a great fit, a solid steady place to be, an actual address for township trustees to give their constituents,” Amber said.
In other Board news:
Sheriff Mark Hodges addressed the Board about cell block shower painting at the jail. Hodges said that based on recommendations from other counties, he suggests using Premier Coatings to repaint the showers in the jail. Hodges said that he has enough money in the misdemeanant fund to cover the project, but would request that some of the funding come from CEDIT money so that he can keep about $8,000-$10,000 in the misdemeanant fund to cover unforeseen expenses due to an increase in the jail population.
The Commissioners approved sending a favorable recommendation to the County Council for approval, but Board member Tom Rethlake suggested that half of the funding come from the Sheriff’s funds and the other half from CEDIT due to the amount of CEDIT requests for the coming years.
The next regular scheduled Board of Commissioners meeting will be Monday, December 17 at 1 p.m. in the meeting room of the Whitley County Government Center.
