Polar Bear Plunge

On January 1 at 12 noon, several people (and a couple of dogs) braved the cold temperatures and jumped into Blue Lake for the annual Polar Bear Plunge. Event coordinator Rolla Harris said this is the fifth year the plunge has taken place on the north shore. A couple of daring guys even engaged in a short game of catch while in the water. This is the second consecutive year that Harris did not have to break ice for the plunge but by the morning of January 2, the lake had frozen over. (photo by ross)
