New Era named runner-up at state contest in March

Churubusco New Era was named state runner-up at the ISSMA State Small School Show Choir Finals in March at Plainfield High School. The group was one of 10 schools statewide invited to perform and was the smallest competing school at the finals. The second-place finish capped off an outstanding season for New Era, which was named Overall Grand Champion at Carroll earlier in the year. Other highlights included Small Mixed Championships at Ada, Findlay, Northrop, DeKalb and Homestead. NEO, the band for both New Era and Churubusco’s middle school choir, New Generation, was the top scoring band at nine out of 10 competitions last season, including the state finals.
