Ned Tarney

On January 1, 1942 he was married in Fort Wayne, to Lauramae Arnold, and moved from Fort Wayne to Churubusco where he had lived since 1971.

After serving his country in World War II, he graduated from the Apprentice School at General Electric, and worked there for approximately 42 years, retiring in 1982.

After retiring he took up wood-working which became a hobby.

He was a member of the Community of Christ Church where he had served as a Pastor and more recently as a High Priest. 

His spouse of 70 years preceded him in death on June 30, 2012.

The surviving relatives include daughter, Dixie Stouder of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and many great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Nedric J. Tarney; two brothers, Cecil and Marshall Tarney; two sisters, Fern Benner and Hilda McDaniels; a son-in-law, Darwin Stouder; a grandson and a great-great-grandson.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 24, 2012, at Community of Christ Church, 3223 Hobson Road, with Pastor Alycia Smith, officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. 

Burial will be at a later date in the Riverview Cemetery, Newville, DeKalb County.
