Trine men handle Bulldogs
ANGOLA — Trine University’s men’s lacrosse team scored seven times in the first quarter en route to a 16-1 victory over Adrian in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association game Sunday at Fred Zollner Athletic Stadium.
Justin Gearig and Nick Maher each had three goals and two assists for the Thunder (6-5, 1-2 MIAA). Conner Putman and Tyler Corless each had two goals, with Putman also having two assists. Trine outshot Adrian 52-12.
Trine used three goalies against the winless Bulldogs (0-10, 0-3). Joseph Steigmeyer started and did not have to face a shot in almost a half of play. Anthony Marasco played the final 2 minutes, 40 seconds of the second quarter and all of the third quarter and stopped all four shots he faced. Chris Shuster was between the pipes in the fourth quarter and made one save.
