The Tri-Lakes Lions Club is holding a Fish and Tenderloin Fry as a spring fund-raising activity. The event will be held on Saturday, April 3 from 4-7 p.m.

Whitley County Chapter AARP met Tuesday, March 2, at the Woodlands. President Pat Loe opened the meeting, and she welcomed all present including guests Marilyn Wright and Linda Shaw. Virginia Wright led in the Pledge to the Flag and Bonnie Hazen gave the prayer.
The Noble County Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) will again offer tree seedlings for spring planting. A colorful selection will be offered including: Flame Maple, Eastern Redbud, White Flowering Dogwood, Sargent Crabapple, Sycamore, Pin Oak, American Mountain Ash, Eastern Redbud, Tulip Poplar, Norway Spruce, White Pine, Blue Spruce and American Arborvitae.
Jennifer “Jen” McGuire has chosen to run for the Whitley County Auditor’s position under the Republican ticket. She is the current Tax Deputy in the Whitley County Auditor’s office and has been working for County Government for the last 15 years. She also worked for thirteen years in the Noble, Allen and Whitley County Auditor’s offices and two years as the elected Clerk/Treasurer for the Town of Albion. Prior to county government she worked in payroll, accounting and customer service for Group Dekko for ten years.
The 22nd Annual 4-H Fun Night in Whitley County will be held on Friday, March 19 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the 4-H Center in Columbia City. This event will feature an All-You-Can-Eat Fish and Tenderloin Dinner and fun carnival booths for kids of all ages beginning at 4:30 p.m.
Whitley County is applying for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) from the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA) for various capital projects. As a requirement of the application process, the community must provide combined family income information for the households within the proposed service area, or those who will directly benefit from the use of grant funds.

Monday, March 8 is the 23rd annual meeting of the Whitley County Literacy Council. The speaker for the evening is Amy Jagger, who writes an occasional column for the Post & Mail. Amy’s initial response to being asked to speak for the Council was to laugh at the irony: “For 39 years people have been telling me to be quiet and now I’m going to get paid to talk! It’s crazy!”
Anytime Fitness is pleased to announce it has signed a lease for space in the Town & Country Shopping Center. Working with the leasing company, Leather and Company, Anytime Fitness will develop a 5,000 sq. ft. exercise facility. With construction due to start immediately, the club will be open for business within the next 60-90 days.
