Walter E. Ward Sr.

Mr. Ward was born December 28, 1922 in Huntington and was the son of the late Oral and Alice (Fisher) Ward. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He attended Arcola Methodist Church. He was a farmer and he retired as a maintenance supervisor from Essex. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Belle (Fishbaugh) Ward; children, Walter (Lolly) Ward, Jr. of Roanoke, Penny L. (Paul) Stein of Glasglow, Ky., and Terry D. (Debbie) Ward of Churubusco; grandchildren, Tom Ward, Kim Jones, Shane Ward, Scott Keller, Tracy Ward, Christina Wiebke, and Lindsey Ward; 18 great-grandchildren; siblings, Helen C. Crowell of Columbia City, and Marvin P. (Susie) Ward of North Webster. He was also preceded in death by sister, Mary Jane Baber; grandchildren, Wesley Keller, Tammy Ward, and Shawn Ward; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral service was Tuesday at Elzey-Patterson-Rodak Home for Funerals, Fort Wayne.

Burial was at Nine Mile Cemetery. Memorials are to Arcola Methodist Church or Family Hospice & Palliative Care.
