Volleyball ~ Lady Eagles win first game in NECC

The Lady Eagles headed to Hamilton Thursday night to face the Marines in the first round of the NECC tournament. The Lady Eagles won in three games, 25-14, 25-12, and 25-11. Leading the way for the Lady Eagles were Chandler Voght with six aces, Lacey Pulley and Ashlie Shelton with 10 assists, Heather Monk and Morgan Young with one block, and Heather Monk with six digs and 10 kills.
Since the Lady Eagles won the first game Thursday, they got to travel to Westview to play in the pool play for the NECC tournament championship. At Westview, the Lady Eagles first faced the Prairie Heights Panthers. The Lady Eagles fell 10-25 and 10-25. Lacey Pulley and Ashlie Shelton both had three assist; Heather Monk had two blocks, Chandler Blake and Morgan Young both had six digs, and Haleigh Gross had five kills for the Lady Eagles.
Second game on Saturday, the Lady Eagles faced the Angola Hornets. The Lady Eagles were defeated 9-25 and 13-25. Chandler Voght had three aces and five digs, Lacey Pulley and Ashlie Shelton had two assists, Heather Monk and Morgan Young had one block, and Morgan Young had three kills.
Next the Lady Eagles faced the hosting Westview Warriors. The Lady Eagles won one game in the match but were defeated by the Warriors 20-25, 25-19, and 9-15. Leading the Lady Eagles were Chandler Blake with three aces, Ashlie Shelton with nine assists, Heather Monk, Nikki Sanders, and Danielle Pippenger all had two blocks, Heather Monk and Danielle Pippenger both had 12 digs, and Heather Monk had nine kills.
The last team the Lady Eagles faced was the Eastside Blazers. The Blazers defeated the Lady Eagles 15-25 and 17-25. Heather Monk and Ashlie Shelton each had one ace, Shelton also had six assists, Chandler Blake, Heather Monk, and Danielle Pippenger all had five digs and Haleigh Gross, Heather Monk, Danielle Pippenger, and Chandler Voght all had two kills.
The Lady Eagles start sectional play on Thursday night at 6 p.m. against Prairie Heights. Sectional games are played at Garrett High School.
