Kenneth Halferty

NEW HAVEN — Kenneth D. Halferty, age 83, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.

Mr. Halferty was born March 2, 1933, in Kendallville, Indiana, the son of the late Donald Edward and Mable Malee (Engle) Halferty. He graduated from Albion High School in 1951 and was married to Audrey Buehrer on October 18, 1953, in the E.U.B. Church in Avilla.

He proudly served his country from 1954-1957 in the United States Air Force as Airman First Class and graduated from Purdue University with a pharmacy degree in 1959. The young couple moved to New Haven to raise their family and after becoming a registered pharmacist he worked at a number of retail pharmacies in the Fort Wayne area. He retired from Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in 1996. After retirement, he and Audrey enjoyed traveling to Ireland, England and Mexico. He was a member of First Assembly of God where he served as elder and usher.

Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Audrey Halferty; daughter Valerie Graham of New Haven; and sister Peggy Earnhart of Albion.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kirby Halferty, in 1990; son-in-law Donald Graham in 2012; brother Edward Halferty; sister Doris McCoy; and brother-in-law Dean Earnhart.

A celebration of Kenneth’s life was held Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at First Assembly of God, 1400 West Washington Center Road, Fort Wayne. Burial followed at Odd Fellows Cemetery in New Haven.

Memorial donations may be made to First Assembly of God.

Timothy McDowell

ALBION — Timothy Allen McDowell, 36, of rural Albion, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2017.

He was born December 23, 1980, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne to Rick and Sharon (Edgar) McDowell. He graduated from Churubusco High School in 1999. He participated in track, cross country, and wrestling. He was a 10-year 4-H member and enjoyed showing cattle, riding dirt bikes, and working on cars.

Surviving are his parents, Rick and Sharon McDowell of Green Township, Noble County; his sister, Trisha (Matt) Lee of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin; grandmother Carol J. Rediger of Auburn; a niece, Norah Lee of Wisconsin; and his beloved dog, Floyd.

Preceding him in death were an infant brother, Todd Michael McDowell; grandparents Bob and Mary Lou McDowell and Robert G. Edger; and great-grandparents Richard and Gladys Fankhauser and Vesta Franks.

There will be a private family service. Arrangements are by Sheets and Childs Funeral Home, Churubusco

Burial will be in Christian Chapel Cemetery, Merriam.

John Marsh

KIMMELL — John A. Marsh, age 68, of Kimmell, Indiana, passed away following a brief illness on Sunday, January 15, 2017, at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on October 20, 1948, the son of Everett and Inez (Cleland) Marsh in Kendallville, Indiana. On January 17, 1969 he married Vicki Mangus.

John was a very hard worker all of his life. Together with his wife, they farmed for over 40 years and raised a beautiful family. He also worked in the fuel distribution industry for over 32 years and owned and operated J & V Oil in Albion, Indiana, from 1975-1993. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Albion, Indiana, DHIA, Northeast Garden Tractor Association, Indiana Tractor Pullers Association and DeKalb County Horseman’s Association. John was very involved in the Noble County 4-H and had also served on the fair board.

Survivors include his wife, Vicki Marsh of Kimmell, Indiana; three daughters, Angela (Chad) Sheets of Albion, Indiana, Laura Cripe of Kendallville, Indiana, and Karri Maxwell of Marengo, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; and two siblings, Sally (Doug) Fought of Topeka, Indiana, and Jack (Denise) Marsh of Ligonier, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Nancy Odier in 1978; and his son, Tracy Marsh in 2011.

A funeral service will be held in John’s honor on Friday, January 20, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 706 North Orange Street, Albion. Pastor Bret Frymier will officiate. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Albion, Indiana.

Family and friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Trinity United Methodist Church and also from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
