Thank you for the opportunity you’ve given me to be your Senator. It has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
Thank you for the input you’ve given me. Whether it was a conversation in a grocery store or restaurant, a letter or an e-mail, I appreciated it. You’ll never know how much it helped.
Thank you for your support. I’ll never forget the trust you placed in me. I always tried my best to honor that each time I walked into our majestic Statehouse.
And to those of you who didn’t support me, I’d like to thank you as well. You made me a better Senator. You reminded me that ours is a government of the people – of all the people – and not just those of the political party that happens to be in power.
So it’s not really goodbye, just a passing of a torch to the next citizen-legislator, another person you may find yourself chatting with in a grocery store line or shaking hands with at a county fair. I look forward to joining you as citizens providing input to our new Senator, Jim Banks.
In the meantime, I can’t say it enough – thank you. May God bless you, your family and this great State of Indiana that I was so honored to serve.
Gary “Doc” Dillon
