On Thursday, senior Ryan Mayer competed in the Homestead Regional at Orchard Ridge Golf Course in Fort Wayne. He shot an 88 for the day ending his career at Churubusco.
“Ryan’s achievements this year ranks right up there with other Churubusco great golfers like Tyler Haire, Tim Frazier, and Jeff Huffman,” said Coach Todd Fry. “He has a great approach and attitude towards the game. He never gets too high from his good shots and he doesn’t let his bad shots bother him. He just competes.”
Ryan is a four-year varsity letter winner, four time medalist honors in head-to- head matches, three runner- up honors in head-to-head matches, and three top 10 finishes in invites including a top five finish in the Leo Invitational. He was also First Team All Conference for the second year in a row and Regional qualifier with a 79 in Sectional.
“Ryan has meant so much to this golf program over the last four years,” said Coach Fry. “He will be missed.”
