The girls’ track team competed in the Fort Wayne Northrop High School sectional and finished fifth with a team score of 49 points. Northrop won the sectional with 135 points. The rest of the schools were: Carroll 105, Snider 102, Concordia Lutheran 65, Leo 49, North Side 45, Bishop Dwenger 34, South Side 25, Woodlan 13, and Blackhawk Christian 2.
Moving on to the regional for Churubusco’s girls’ track team is Payton Summer, Heather Monk, Katie Monk, and McKinzie Hogeston.
Heather Monk finished first in the shot put and discus. Heather threw 41’02 ?” in shot put and 128’08” discus. Katie Monk also qualified in the shot put and discus placing third. Katie threw 34’09 ?” in shot put and 121’08” in discus. Summers qualified in the 100 meter dash. Summers came in third place with a time of 12.74. Hogeston placed third in the pole vault with a vault of 8’06” to advance her to Tuesday’s regional at Northrop.
The boys’ track team competed in the North Side High School sectional and finished sixth with a team score of 58 points. Carroll won the sectional with 105.25 points. The rest of the schools were: Snider 88.75, North Side 78.25, Northrop 72.50, South Side 68, Bishop Dwenger 57, Concordia Lutheran 48, Leo 30, Canterbury 10, and Woodlan 8.25.
Moving on to regional for the Churubusco boys’ track team is Alex Zolman, Austin McClure, and Gunnar Barnhart.
McClure finished second in the shot put and discus. McClure threw 52’11 ?” in shot put and 147’10” in discus.
Barnhart qualified in the discus by placing fourth with a throw of 146’9” to advance him to Thursday’s regional at Wayne High School.
Zolman qualified in the 400 meter dash. Zolman placed fourth with a time of 49.87.
