CHURUBUSCO — Students at Smith-Green Community Schools celebrated 100 days of school with several activities last week. The first-grade students decorated T-shirts with 100 items, such as Smarties, googly eyes, or bugs, then wrote a sentence about why they chose what they did.
Kindergarten students wore sweaters, suspenders, glasses and pearls, and some students used canes and walkers. Some of the children put white powder in their hair to make it look gray or white.
The kindergarteners also made a project using 100 items, such as popcorn or gummy worms, displayed creatively on a poster board.
The kindergarten and first-grade students paraded around the halls of Churubusco Elementary School while their fellow students lined the halls and cheered them on.
