Smith-Green begins search for new superintendent

CHURUBUSCO — Smith-Green Community Schools’ Board of Trustees is taking the first step toward hiring a new superintendent.

Galen Mast submitted his letter of resignation to the board at the February meeting. Mast was selected to be the superintendent at West Noble Schools — closer to his home and his family.

The Indiana State School Board has a service to assist school districts to help find quality superintendents. The cost to SGCS will not exceed $1,000. The board agreed to move forward with the search service.

Mast will complete the school year before going to West Noble.

Treasurer Jodi Royer also announced that she is stepping down. Dee Boyle, secretary, agreed to take care of Royer’s responsibilities as treasurer.

Now, Boyle, Mast and business manager Todd Fleetwood are the only people who can sign checks for the district.
