Last week marked the annual National Public Safety Telecommunications Week.
Held every year during the second week of April, this is a time to recognize telecommunications personnel in the public safety community for their service and commitment to the profession. It highlights the profession that demand unique professional skills and personal attributes of the men and women willing to make sacrifices like working weekends, shifts and holidays, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
It is our pleasure to honor the “unsung heroes” that work behind the scenes answering calls for 14 different police and fire agencies that are dispatched by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department. We would like to thank our 12 dispatchers for keeping the responders safe and assisting the citizens of Whitley County.
