It gave our kids a chance to relax a little bit,” stated Coach Mark Grove. “He got ahead of every batter and they had to guess what was coming next. He really did a nice job and had good stuff out there tonight.”
Not to be out done fellow senior Chris Sims had two hits for the Eagles, his last one a triple off the left center field fence. But his highlight of the night was the double play on his catch and throw out of a Cougar runner. Central Noble had the bases loaded with one out when the batter connected with a fly ball to center field. Sims got himself in position to make the catch and throw. He fired a perfect strike to catcher Jordan Turner getting the runner by at least three steps, to kill the Cougar rally.
With the rain we have had it cancelled several games this week for the Eagles. Monday the Eagles traveled to Angola to get in a rain out game. The Hornets stung the Eagles 4-1 at Angola. Braxton Siddons pitched for the Eagles going five innings giving up four runs (two earned) five hits and striking out six. Ryan Farlow came on in relief and pitched two innings surrendering just one hit. The Eagle bats were quiet as they managed just four hits for the game. Farlow led the Eagles with two hits and drove in the only Churubusco run as Turner scored on his double in the fourth inning. The Eagles are 12-11 on the season and 7-3 in conference play entering the post season. Churubusco will play Eastside in the late game on Friday at Garrett in Sectional action.
