The category winners and their scholarship amounts are: Cassandra Petrie, WCJM, $700; Katie Stezel, first runner-up, $400; Olivia Western, second runner-up, $300 and panel interview, $200; Nicole Yingst, scholastics, $200; Cassandra Petrie, talent, $200 and fitness, $200; Marla Martinez, $200, self expression. Petrie was also named the Spirit of Junior Miss, $200.
The Whitley County Community Foundation disperses the scholarship dollars to the institution of higher learning chosen by the participant. Anyone wishing to donate to the scholarship fund of WCJM may do so by contacting the community foundation.
The Board of Directors of WCJM has again chosen to participate in the Community Day fundraiser sponsored by Elder-Berman, Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Herberger’s and Yonkers. Community Day is Saturday, Nov. 13 at the Warsaw Elder-Berman store.
Members of the board have coupon books they are selling for $5 which allows the purchaser to take advantage of many discounts at Elder-Berman. The $5 is then donated to the scholarship fund of WCJM.
Coupons featuring discounts are the “early bird” coupon with 30 percent off until 10 a. m. and six 20 percent off coupons. Customers can also go online to take advantage of other savings. In addition, there is a $10 off coupon, exclusive bonus coupons and three web-exclusive offers. There will be 100 door busters throughout the store.
