Richard Waikel

Born March 3, 1950, in Fort Wayne, son of William “Ed” and Helen L. (Buckmaster) Waikel, Rick was a 1968 graduate of North Side High School in Fort Wayne, and for the last 15 years, a truck driver for Conway Freight. In his free time, Rick loved restoring antique tractors, fishing, motorcyle riding and spending time with his family and friends. He was certified as a Master Truck Driver by the IMTA and was a member of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association, National Rifle Association and the Muscle Car Association. 

Surviving are his parents; one daughter and son-in-law, Becky and Kenny Wells of LaOtto; two sons and daughters-in-law; Brian and Kim Waikel of Fort Wayne and Brent and Jenny Waikel of Woodburn; nine grandchildren, Ashleigh, Alexis and Alizabeth Goldey, Staci Wells, Jacob, Andrew and Kaleb Waikel and Taylor and Autumn Waikel; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Terry and Penny Waikel of Albion, Scott and Mary Waikel and Rodger Waikel, both of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Waikel.

Funeral services are today at Brazzell Funeral Homes, Avilla Chapel, 530 N. Main Street, Avilla with Rev. Larry R. Williams officiating.

Burial was at Thorn Cemetery, near Wolf Lake.
