On September 30, 1939 he was married in Brunson, Michigan to DeVere L. Long. The couple lived in Oregon for a period, and worked as Christian missionaries in both Mexico and South America from 1957 until their retirement in 1980. They then lived in Arkansas before moving to this area.
He was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, east of Churubusco.
The surviving relatives include the widow, DeVere Knox, to whom he was married for over 72 years; two daughters, Louise (David) Linnemeier of rural Fort Wayne and Lucy (Dan) Wallace of Berryville, Ark; a sister, Ruth Meade of Three Rivers, Mich; eight grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Emily Knox.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2011, in the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Larry Smith, officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church after 12 noon on Monday until the time of the service.
Interment will be in the Eel River Cemetery, south of Churubusco.
