CHURUBUSCO – Softball player Mallory Pearson will play in this year’s Indiana all-star games.
The senior third baseman will represent the northern half of Indiana in a double header June 17 against the south all-star team at Cherry Tree Softball Complex in Carmel. The first game is set for first pitch at 10:15 a.m. and the second game will start around 12:15 p.m.
Pearson made first team NECC all-conference and first team Indiana all-state. She was also named Indiana first team Academic all-state last weekend.
“It shows how hard work pays off,” said Pearson. “I’ve been playing softball since I was four years old. So, this is a good ending for me.”
Pearson had a .369 batting average. She had 38 hits, 16 RBIs and scored 20 runs in the 30 games played this season. She was a factor in Churubusco’s conference tournament run and their first sectional title appearance in over 20 years.
This won’t be Pearson’s first encounter in an all-star game. She won the Elite North’s most valuable player in last years’ all-star game.
Pearson plans on attending Valparaiso University next fall to major in health science in the pursuit of being a physician’s assistant.
