SchoolMessenger, an automated notification software program, uses a database of parent contact information–including home and cell phone numbers and email addresses–to automatically notify parents of pertinent school information via text messages and emails.
Students should be receiving letters to take home to parents with directions to update all forms of contact information for the system.
The software will be used initially to notify parents of delays, closings and emergency dismissals, but will eventually be used by the Athletic Department to notify parents of game and practice cancellations.
Former Director of Business and Technology Adam Skiles said S-G hopes to use the SchoolMessenger software for attendance in the future to save time spent calling parents to verify absences.
