Storm clouds prevented the County meet from taking place on Monday. So traveling to Lakeland through cloudy skies and threatening storms left the Eagle track teams wondering if they took the long ride for nothing. Rain clouds and a brisk wind didn’t stop the Lady Eagles as they beat the Lakeland Lakers 85-24. Underclassmen took charge as key eighth graders were sidelined due to injuries.
Tommy Beezley II of Churubusco traveled to Gas City and I69 Speedway Dirt Track Friday night. There were 31 Modifieds. Tommy started in the rear in his eight lap heat race and won it. He started third in the 20 lap Main Event and won it. The Beezleys had Steve Minich Racing from Fort Wayne rework their chassis over the winter and are using Minich’s Bilstein Shock package.
The 24th Annual Central Noble Invitational is in the books and the Churubusco boys track team claimed its second Championship in as many years. The Eagles piled up 153 points to take first place. Second was Westview with 118 and West Noble finished third with 95 points.

It was a windy afternoon at Fairfield but that didn’t stop the CMS Lady Eagles as they continued on an unbeaten path. Beating the Lady Falcons 69-40 improves their record to 4-0 and 3-0 in conference competition. Only three conference meets left to see if the Lady Eagles have the stuff that champions are made of.
