Turtle Days committee leaders meet with council

CHURUBUSCO — Turtle Days committee leaders attended last week’s Churubusco Town Council meeting to discuss plans for the upcoming Turtle Days Festival in June.

The committee members said they plan to keep their contract with the town the same this year, and will retain the same amusement company as last year.

The Turtle Days group was able to make several donations to community projects in the past year, as well as scholarships for Churubusco High School students.

They are now working to raise sponsor dollars in preparation for this year’s Turtle Days Festival in mid-June. The festival is held at the Churubusco Town Park.

Support group available for families of children with special needs

COLUMBIA CITY — Families of children with special needs can be part of a support group in Columbia City.

The group meets 3-5 p.m. on the third Saturday of each month at Choices & Changes, 360 N. Oak St.

The Feb. 17 meeting will focus on visual supports.

The meeting on March 17 will focus on community supports. April 20’s topic is grieving and growing.

SGCS meeting is Monday

CHURUBUSCO — The Smith-Green Community Schools Board of Trustees will meet 7 p.m. Feb. 19 in the district’s Administrative Center. A full agenda is available on the school’s website, sgcs.k12.in.us.
