Town Council awards bid for sewer extension

CHURUBUSCO — Churubusco’s Town Council awarded the base bid for its sewer extension project to API Construction Corporation, at a price of $252,400.

The project will extend the sewer line to County Road 375 North.

Town moves forward with rate study

CHURUBUSCO — The Town Council agreed to pay OW Krohn & Associates about $12,000 to conduct a utility rate study, in which the company will review utility rates, deposits and tax fees.

County Council approves radio system update

COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Council pre-approved a $28,000 radio system update, pending money from the Whitley County Commissioners’ CEDIT fund.

The update will improve communications for firefighters and law enforcement in the east part of the county. Work will be done by J&K Communications, of Columbia City.

The decision is expected to be on the agenda for the next commissioners’ meeting 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15.

County names chairmen

COLUMBIA CITY — The Whitley County Council and County Commissioners hosted their first meetings of the year last week.

George Schrumpf will remain commissioner chairman and Don Amber will remain as vice chair.

The County Council had a change up, as Thor Hodges was named president and Chad Banks vice president.

The commissioners meet at 1 p.m. the first and third Mondays of the month at the Whitley County Government Center. The council meets 8 a.m. on the Tuesday after the first commissioners meeting.
