Mr. Kreger was born in Fort Wayne on November 25, 1935, a son of Kenneth W. and Hazel E. (Peek) Kreger, and spent his formative years in Huntertown. As a young man he served in the U. S. Army, and lived near Albion from 1973 until moving to Churubusco ten years ago.
He had been engaged in farming in Noble County, and retired as a truck driver for Elway Trucking in Fort Wayne.
A member of the Teamster’s Union, he was also a member of the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 in Churubusco and the Albion Fraternal Order of Eagles.
The surviving relatives include his children Deb (Michael) Kumfer of Fort Wayne, Eva (Joseph) Baysinger of Kimmell, Sharon Kreger and William (Peggy) Kreger, both of Churubusco, Brian (Janet) Kreger of Albion, and Dena Kreger of Syracuse; his brother Jerry (Joyce) Kreger of Pierceton; and a sister Sonia (Norm) Meyer of Fort Wayne. There are 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Rita Kreger.
At the request of Mr. Kreger, there will be no services or calling hours. A memorial service will take place at the Gilbert Davis American Legion Post 157 in Churubusco at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 12, 2009. Memorials may be directed to the family for final expenses.
