WARSAW – Trey Meyer was so close to the state finals, he could almost taste it.

Churubusco High School’s Meyer, a senior, competed at the Warsaw regional at Stonehenge Golf club last Thursday morning. Meyer had 75 strokes, just missing qualification to the state finals by one shot.

He finished his career with all-conference honors every year he played. He was also a regional qualifier three of the four years he played.

Bishop Dwenger won the team title, followed by Homestead and Carroll to advance to the state finals at Prairie View.

“Trey played great again,” said head coach Ryan Meyer. “He hit 12 greens in regulation. He shot the number we had in our mind to get out, unfortunately he needed one less. That being said it was a great score. Overall, he had a great high school golf career.”
