“Maxim is experiencing incredible growth and we’re happy they have chosen to expand in northeast Indiana,” said Governor Mitch Daniels. “It’s always nice to announce new jobs, but it takes on special importance when jobs are created in a small community like Churubusco.”
Maxim, which currently employs nearly 20 associates in LaOtto, Ind., plans to begin hiring additional manufacturing and repair associates in the first quarter of 2010 after moving into the new facility.
“We chose Indiana as the center for our business because of its proximity to a sizeable percentage of the general population, and therefore potential customers. Because we are a service-oriented business, we need to be able to get to our customers quickly,” said Phil Cowart, owner and vice president of Maxim Medical Services. “To have the opportunity to expand our operation, especially in economic times such as these, is a chance that we can’t pass up. The acquisition of the property in Churubusco will be invaluable in facilitating the growth that our company has been striving for since its inception.”
Established in 2003, Maxim Medical Services originated as an installer and repairer of surgical technology systems. The company has grown to include an equipment refurbishing and resell operation and anticipates bringing additional manufacturing and powder coating operations in-house by the end of 2010.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Maxim Medical Services Inc. up to $175,000 in performance-based tax credits and $30,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. Allen County will consider additional property tax abatement at the request of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance.
“This investment in Allen County by Maxim Medical Services is a sign of continued confidence for our business community,” said Nelson Peters, Allen County Commissioner. “We are looking forward to the growth and opportunities this project will bring to the citizens of Allen County.”
Maxim’s announcement comes just three months after tradeshow and exhibit supplier ICON Exhibits announced that it would invest $4.3 million to expand its operations in Fort Wayne, creating up to 60 new jobs.
