Boys Soccer

Knights lose at Bellmont

DECATUR — East Noble lost to Bellmont 4-1 in a Northeast 8 Conference match Wednesday. The Knights fell to 5-7-2 overall, 3-3 in the NE8.

The Braves and EN played to a 2-2 draw in the junior varsity match.

Girls Soccer

Barons defeat Lakers

LAGRANGE — DeKalb defeated Lakeland 8-0 in a non-conference match on Wednesday. The Class 2A sixth-ranked Barons are 11-1-1 overall.

Angola wins at New Haven

NEW HAVEN — The Angola girls soccer team shutout New Haven 5-0 in Wednesday’s road match.

Reace Peppler scored three goals and Hanna Knoll scored two. They both recorded an assist each.

In the net, Emily McKinley had three saves and Sarah McKinley recorded four.


Hornets swept at Homestead

FORT WAYNE — The Angola boys tennis team lost 5-0 in Wednesday’s road match at fifth-ranked Homestead.

In singles, Jaxon Davis lost 6-0, 6-1, Jordan Wells fell 6-4, 6-1 and Elijah Wyatt lost 6-0, 6-1.

In doubles action, the team of Eric Nofziger and Spencer Griffis fell 6-3, 6-1, and the duo of Luke Hottell and Trevyn Nafziger fell 6-0, 6-2.

Angola finishes up the regular season with a 13-5 overall record with all five records coming against ranked opponents.


Lakeland freshman Alexandria Crawford was also part of the Lakers girls golf team from beginning to end. She also plays soccer for Lakeland along with golf this season.

Crawford was left out of the feature that appeared in Tuesday’s edition of The News Sun.
