Lady Eagles working hard

Churubusco fell behind 6-0 in the first minute and a half. But clawed back to a 10-8 deficet before  Woodlan pushed the score to 15-10 after one quarter of play.

Alysa Holloway scored six of her 12 points in the opening period. 

Woodlan went on a 10-0 run to begin the second quarter and outscored the Eagles 16-5 in the quarter. Heather Monk scored four of the points as she hit two shots down in the paint. Woodlan went to the locker rooms with a 31-15 halftime lead. 

The second half Woodlan again used the press to their advantage. Pushing the lead to 39-19 early in the third period. Finishing out the quarter with a 47-27 advantage.

The Lady Eagles never gave up, even as Woodlan hit it’s biggest lead at 60-34. Busco closed out the game with an eight to one run.

Friday night the Blazers from Eastside came to Churubusco.

The game went back and forth in the opening quarter. As the Lady came out on top 10-9 for the early lead. Haleigh Gross paced the Eagles in the first quarter with six points. 

In the second period the Lady Eagles saw their last lead at 17-16 with three minutes to go.  The Blazers ran their lead to 27-21, with a 11-4 run as the half closed.

The Eagles fell hard in the third quarter. With 13 turnovers that the Blazers converted to 17 points. Eastside continued to build their lead. Churubusco poor shooting was also a factor going just 1-9 from the floor and 2-6 at the line. Eastside scored 21 points in the period to Busco’s four.

Eastside took its biggest lead at 58-29 with 5:46 remaining. The Eagles out scored the Blazers 12-2 the rest of the quarter.
