On Thursday, the Lady Eagles hosted the Fremont Eagles. The Lady Eagles lost the first set 20-25, but came back and won three sets in a row 25-22, 25-22, and 25-11 to get their first win of the season. “I’m very happy for the girls,” stated Coach Trinda Goings. “They did it. I’m proud of them. We had great effort from everyone on the floor and from the bench. The bench stayed focused and ready at all times.”
Heather Monk led the team in kills with 17 and in blocks with two. Ashlie Shelton led the team with 24 assists and 16 digs. “Ashlie did a pretty consistent job of putting the ball in the hands of the hitters at the right time tonight,” said Coach Goings. Gabby Jones led the team with nine aces. “Gabby Jones played well for us tonight,” stated Coach Goings. “She was mentally tough on serves. She hit every serve to the zone that we called. Passing tonight was very good too. Emma Frericks came in and passed extremely well for us. This is the first time she’s played all the way around for us. Now we have to keep building on the little things and stay hungry,” said Coach Goings.
