In number two singles play Alysa Holloway defeated Courtney McNall 6-0, 6-2. Shannon Kuznar defeated Bethaney Tritch 6-3 and 6-0. In doubles action Hannah Dodson and Morgan Young were victorious over Amanda Northup and Brittany Logsdon 6-2, 6-1. The number two doubles team of Marla Martinez and Alison Shambaugh dropped the first set 6-3 but fought back and took the last two sets 6-0 and 7-6 (7-3) to complete the sweep over the Panthers.
In the Conference tournament the Lady Eagles finished in sixth place as a team. A very strong Fairfield team took first in all classes, scoring a perfect 65 team points. Westview finished second with 42, Fremont was third with 40, Angola placed fourth with 38 and Lakeland was fifth with 17.
Kelli Klaehn finished fifth in number one singles. She lost her opening match against Tabitha Lehman of Westview 6-0 and 6-2. She rebounded to defeat Prairie Heights’ Angelique Ferguson 8-5 and then defeated Jamie Coffman of Lakeland 8-4 to finish in fifth place.
In number two singles Alysa Holloway dropped her first match to Caitlynn Smith of Fremont 6-1 and 6-0. Holloway then lost to Ashley Miller 8-0 and Brooke Moser of West Noble to finish in eighth place.
Shannon Kuznar placed seventh in number three singles. Kuznar won her opening match over Jazz Outlaw from Central Noble 6-1, 6-1. She was then defeated by Rebecca Noyes of Fremont 6-1, 6-1. Lakeland’s Molly Simon beat Kuznar 8-3 in the next round but Kuznar rallied to defeat Vero Perea of West Noble 8-1 to take seventh place.
The number one doubles team of Morgan Young and Hannah Dodson finished in fifth place. They won their match over Prairie Heights and then lost to Angola. They finished with wins over Lakeland 8-2 and Central Noble 8-6 to take fifth place.
Marla Martinez and Alison Shambaugh placed ninth in conference. They were defeated by Lakeland 6-4, 4-6 and 7-6 (9-7) in the first round. They then lost to West Noble 8-8 (7-1)
The Lady Eagles will compete in the Wawasee Sectionals where they will begin Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
