Lady Eagles claw New Haven early

NEW HAVEN — The Churubusco softball team outscored New Haven 20-5 in just five innings March 29.

The Eagles (2-1) had their best at bats in the first inning when they outscored the Bulldogs 12-1. After the first inning, New Haven was too far in the hole to come close to making a comeback.

The most competitive the Bulldogs were able to make it was in the second inning, when both teams scored one run.

The Eagles’ exclamation point was in the sixth inning, when Churubusco scored six runs to New Haven’s three.

Stars of the game for Churubusco were sophomores Abigal Erwin and Brooke Nondorf. Erwin went 3-for-3 at bat, scoring four runs and two RBIs. Nondorf also went 3-for-3 at the plate, scored three runs and three RBIs. Senior Mallory Pearson was also a big threat to New Haven. Mallory went 3-for-4 at bat, scored three runs and had three RBIs.

The Eagles had a total of 17 RBIs and 12 hits in its rout of New Haven (0-3).
