They have been asked to bring “home baked items,” cookies, candy, etc. and they get to help give these items out to the returning veteran heroes, and to those who are deploying to a foreign country, to continue our military’s fight to keep America free for all who remain at home, comfortable in our homes while these valiant military persons are leaving all this to go and fight for us. There are approximately 5,000 military personnel, men and women, processed thru Camp Atterbury every month. The Auxiliary of Churubusco is requesting that the community of Churubusco do their part in this event to show our “honor and appreciation” to these military persons.
As part of the Indiana Department officers, Sue Hamilton, Department Secretary, will be attending this function on December 15. She is asking that anyone from the community who wishes to help out, bring their donations to the VFW on Saturday afternoon, December 12, (or call her at 693-3055 if you need anything picked up).
There is also a need for the following items: toothpaste, toothbrushes, note pads, stamps, hand sanitizer, bottled water, dental floss, ink pens, mouthwash, ear buds, plastic combs, warm socks, current movies, books, envelopes, and shaving cream. Sue will be happy to take any of these items and turn them over to the USO for distribution as needed.
Please do what you can to help our military out, and show them a small token of our great appreciation for what they do for our country, and bring your donations to Sue for delivery.
Thank you in advance. Let’s not let our soldiers down.
