ORLANDO – Most people who head to Orlando are there for the amusement parks, but a Churubusco volleyball player primarily went there for sport.

Rachel Jacquay competed at the AAU Nationals volleyball tournament last week at the Orange County Convention Center. Now a junior, Jacquay played in the 16-open division. She played with Summit Club out of Fort Wayne.

The team was coached by Concordia Lutheran Head Coach Trish Miller. The Summit Club competed against teams from Indiana, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Colorado, Florida, California and Hawaii, in addition to playing an international match against a Peruvian squad.

The Summit Club struggled throughout the tournament to get wins, but the primary reason for the players is recruiting. Jacquay will return this winter at Churubusco to compete for the Lady Eagles volleyball team, all while getting college looks.
