Kaitlyn (Katy) Hockerman, a junior at Churubusco High School, will be living and studying the next year in Denmark as a Rotary Youth Exchange student. Her exchange is being sponsored by the Churubusco Rotary Club, and is being hosted by the Hasle Rotary Club of Denmark. She will be living with several different host families on the island of Bornholm, located east of the mainland in the Baltic sea. She will be attending the local school, which is taught in Danish, and will be experiencing the customs, food, and culture of Denmark. During her preparation for this experience, she has made friends with many wonderful Rotary foreign exchange students from Europe, South America, and Asia, who have been in the United States the past year experiencing and learning about our culture, as well as with many U.S. students who will be spending the next year in any one of 44 countries in which the Rotary sponsors exchanges. For those inerested in following Katy on her journeys in a different culture, she will be filing reports and pictures on her blog katyindenmark. shutterfly.com. PIctured with Hockerman is Churubusco Rotary President Lee Prescott.
