CHICAGO, ILL. — Jon Hilsmier and Grace Casimer were united in marriage on Saturday, Oct 17, 2015 in Chicago, Illinois. The groom was a student at Churubusco High School through his sophomore year in 2009 before attending the Indiana Academy of Mathematics, Science and Humanities where he met Miss Casimer and they both graduated in 2011. The bride is a 2015 Education Magna Cum Laude graduate of Northwestern University and is currently teaching seventh grade English at Willowcreek Middle School in Portage, Indiana. The groom is a 2015 graduate of Purdue University and is a Metallurgical Engineer at ArcelorMittal in Burns Harbor, Indiana.
The couple married in Madonna Della Strada Chapel with a reception following at the Field Museum in Chicago. The wedding party consisted of best man Aaron Whiteman and maid of honor Leah Bowman, who are friends of the bride and groom. Additional groomsmen included Stuart Hilsmier, brother of the groom, and Kevin Casimer, brother of the bride. Cole, the groom’s nephew, was the ring bearer and Katie Burgess, the groom’s sister, was a junior bridesmaid with little cousin Cadence Rorick as the flower girl.
The parents of the groom are Mr. and Mrs. Shannon and Judi Burgess of Albion. The bride’s parents are Mr. and Mrs. Greg and Lisa Casimer of Ogden Dunes. The couple will reside in Valparaiso. A honeymoon to Los Angeles immediately followed the ceremony.
