Gamma Lambda has silent auction for scholarships

KENDALLVILLE — Gamma, Lambda, a teacher organization in DeKalb and Noble counties affiliated with Delta Kappa Gamma International, met Oct. 21 at Kendallville Public Library. Dorothy Gall and the Ligonier and Kendallville groups were hostesses for the silent auction meeting.

Members placed silents bids on items brought in. The money generated from the silent auction will be used to fund to scholarships of five hundred dollars each that will be given in the spring of 2018. These will be presented to one senior high school female in both DeKalb and Noble counties who plan to enter the field of education.

Judy Moughler and granddaughters Carissa and Emma Peckhart were in charge of the program. They involved the group in singing Halloween songs and playing Halloween Bingo. Carissa concluded the program by reading a poem about pumpkins.

The next meeting will be Nov. 18 at 9 a.m. at Smith Farms Manor. Patti Brooks is hostess, assisted by the Butler and Auburn groups. A memorial service for Dr. Jacqueline Carl who passed away June 17, 2017, will be held.
