Evelyn Garman

Evelyn was born November 15, 1931 in Franklin County, Mo., a daughter of the late Paul A. and Marie E. (Kernebeck) Gildehaus. She was united in marriage in Fort Wayne, on January 6, 1951 to Donald A. Garman. Mr. Garman preceded her in death on October 22, 2004. She had worked for Hep’s Groceries for five years in Huntertown and then the Byron Health Center in Fort Wayne, retiring in 1993 as the Lines Clerk. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Avilla.

She is survived by her children, Pastor Sherri (Ed) Long of LaOtto; Dan A. (Lisa) Garman of New Haven, Dave (Sarah) Garman of Huntertown, Kim A. (Jim) Dietsch of Pierceton, Dee A. (Jack) Mossburg of LaOtto; her sister, Mary Ann Grill of St. Louis, Mo., brothers Alvin (Mary) Gildehaus, of Cedar Hill, Mo., Raymond Gildehaus of St. Clair, Mo. and Richard (Deloris) Gildehaus of Arnold, Mo. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, and husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Leona Heil, Marilyn Gildehaus, and Laverne Stroder.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the Sheets & Childs Funeral Home in Churubusco, where a Rosary Service will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Calling at the church on Saturday will be from 10 a.m. until service time. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2009 in the Huntertown United Methodist Church, 16021 Lima Road, Huntertown with burial to follow in the Covington Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fort Wayne. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be directed to Provena Sacred Heart/St. Paul Neighborhood, or American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available in the funeral home and church.
