Busco held tough from the start as they worked the ball into Tyler Arrowsmith who had four first quarter points. The Eagles trailed 14-10 after one period of play but were able to take the lead 17-16 before Lakers’ Scott McKibben caught fire with four straight three-point shots to help Lakeland to a 33-23 halftime advantage.
The Eagles came out in the second half looking to cut into the Laker lead. Again they tried to get the ball into Arrowsmith who had five points in the third quarter. Churubusco could not get any closer as the Lakers jumped out to a 14 point advantage after three quarters.
In the final period several of the younger Eagles had the opportunity to gain experience as the Lakers continued their onslaught. Jordan Turner scored eight points in the final period for the Eagles. Lakeland added 23 more in the fourth quarter for the 73-50 win.
