LAGRANGE — Churubusco’s boys basketball team suffered a 60-53 loss at Lakeland Thursday.
The Eagles fell to a 20-14 deficit in the first quarter, but outscored the Lakers in both the second and third quarters — 15-10 in the second and 19-12 in the third.
Going into the fourth quarter with a 48-42 lead, the Eagles’ offense struggled in the last eight minutes, getting outscored 18-5 to lose by seven.
Jalen Paul scored 28 points for Churubusco, followed by 12 points by Luke Foote and nine from Dakota Barkley.
Brayden Simmons snagged eight rebounds, followed by Dean Stanley with seven and Garrett Horn with six.
The Eagles travel to South Adams tonight in a game that was rescheduled from Saturday, because South Adams’ girls will be playing in the regional tournament at Winamac Saturday.
