The Eagles came out in the first round and defeated Northrop 54-18. Austin Boggess, Zack Armstead, A.J. Herron, Braxton Siddons and Travis Liggett all collected pins for Churubusco.
In the second round Elkhart Central was the opponent. The Eagles won 37-30 on back-to-back pins by Bryce Shively and Jordan Nicodemus. Austin Boggess, Jordan Hamilton and Jay Linscomb also recorded pins for the Eagles.
Next up was the host team the Carroll Chargers. Braxton Siddons got the Eagles off to an early lead with a decision over Matt McClure. But Carroll quickly turned that around with 27 straight team points. The Chargers went on to a 48-22 win over the Eagles.
Churubusco bounced back and pitched a shutout against Eastside, winning 75-0. The Eagles collected ten pins in the match.
In the final match of the day, the Garrett Railroaders beat Busco 46-21. Adam Boggess won by decision 5-1, Jordan Nicodemus won by forfeit, Braxton Siddons and Jay Linscomb won by pins for the Eagles’ only points.
“On the day we were happy with how our team competed,” stated Coach Riesen. “Individually we had several wrestlers that had great days and really helped their sectional seedings.”
Adam Boggess and Braxton Siddons both went 5-0 on the day. Boggess had two pins and three decisions while Siddons collected three pins and two decisions on the day. “They came up big for us today,” said Coach Riesen on their performance on Saturday. “We are excited about what the post season could have in store for these two.”
The Eagle wrestlers return to action Saturday, January 2nd at the Rochester Invitational.
