Catherine Parker Jones

ALBION — Catherine Parker Jones, 94, of Albion, died on Thursday Feb. 23, 2017. at North Ridge Village Nursing Home.

She was born on Dec. 3, 1922, in Albion to the late Dewey and Jessie (Weber) Hiatt. She had Kay’s Beauty Shop in Albion for 70 years and also enjoyed needlepoint and working on word puzzles. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and especially enjoyed traveling.

She married Maynard Parker on June 19, 1942, who preceded her in death on Dec. 25, 1985. In 1986 she married Clifford Jones. He preceded her in death Nov. 13, 2005.

She is survived by a daughter, Judy Herendeen and friend Larry Hague; grandsons Ryan and Sandy King of Wolcottville and Randy and Paula King of Grayling, Michigan; step-grandchildren Austin, Ashley and Kayla Freed; great-grandchildren April Chapman of Lake City, Michigan, Adam King of Albion, Ashlee Anglin of Columbia City, Aaron and Amanda Fehrinbacker of Evansville; and great-great-grandchildren Brailey Moore, and Wyatt, Levi and Caleb King, all of Albion. Also surviving are a brother, Wayne and Nancy Hiatt of Denison, Texas; sister-in-law Marjorie Elser of Albion; nephew Gary Hiatt; and good friends and neighbors Jim and Laura Owen and Joyce Gage.

She was preceded in death by her husbands; brothers Philip and Bernard Hiatt; and a great-great-grandson, Franklin Anglin.

Funeral services took place Monday Feb. 27, 2017, at Harper Funeral Homes, Albion Chapel, 771 Trail Ridge Road. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Memorials are to Rehobeth Church or Albion American Legion Post 246.

CHURUBUSCO — Doug Herendeen, 71, a resident rural Churubusco, passed away on February 24, 2017 at IU Health University Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born in Green Township, Noble County, he was a son of Dallas and Beulah (Campbell) Herendeen. He spent his formative years in Noble County and graduated from Albion Jefferson High School in 1964.

He was married on June 27, 1964 in Columbia City to Phyllis L. Krider.

He retired from Zollner Corp. after 32 years in 1996 and then from Cuno Corp. in 2009 after 12 years.

He belonged to the Wallen Baptist Church and the Noble County Saddle Club. He enjoyed camping and watching his grandchildren’s sport.

Doug is survived by his wife, Phyllis Herendeen; a daughter, Laura (Lance) Adams; a son, Jody (Talisha) Herendeen; two sisters, JoAnn (Selby) Gemmill and Janice (Lee) McGuire; a brother, Jack (Phyllis) Herendeen; and five grandchildren, Kimberly Adams, Ashlynn Adams, Austin Brunner, Dylan Herendeen and Brooke Herendeen.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Wallen Baptist Church, with calling one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Allen County.
