Born in Churubusco he worked as a tool salesman for Snap-on Tools and also was a greeter for D. O. McComb & Sons for many years. He was a member of the Churubusco Masonic Lodge 515, Order of Eastern Star #136, Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Wayne, U. S. Army Air Corp. World War II veteran and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. He received many awards for woodworking; he also enjoyed painting and whittling
Surviving are his wife, Louise Barnhart; sons, Tim (Vivian) Barnhart of Fort Wayne and Kent (Anne Karsten) Barnhart of Chicago, IL; brother, Ronald L. Barnhart of Fort Wayne; and grandchildren, Aaron, Rhys, Spencer, Katie, and Emma Barnhart. He was preceded in death by brothers, Burlyn and Harold Barnhart; and sisters, Lavon Linvill and Louise Blaugh.
Funeral was Tuesday at Covenant United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Scott officiating. There was a Masonic service Monday at D. O. McComb & Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home.
Burial was in Eel River Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
