Community foundation has new Honeywell fund for the arts

WHITLEY COUNTY — Whether it was an afternoon spent with Curious George, a chance to tap toes to Seussical the Musical, or rubbing elbows with real poets in their classrooms, over 8,000 Whitley County students were connected to the Arts in 2015-16. These fun, learning opportunities occurred thanks to a variety of educational outreach programs made possible by the Honeywell Foundation.

The Community Foundation of Whitley County recently announced that a new agency endowment, The Honeywell Fund for Arts Education, has been established to provide support for the continuation of these exciting educational opportunities for Whitley County students.

“At a time when many schools, both public and private, are being forced to cut budgets for art, music and theater, our students are fortunate to have the privilege of participating in these educational offerings,” said September McConnell, director of the Community Foundation of Whitley County. “Exposure to the arts fuels imaginations, inspires creativity and encourages positive social engagement. These educational programs are developmental assets to which every child should have access.”

The Honeywell Fund for Arts Education at the Community Foundation of Whitley County is open to receive tax deductible contributions. New gifts will be matched dollar for dollar up to $5,000. Gifts may be sent to the CFWC, 400 N. Whitley St., Columbia City, IN 46725, or made on-line by visiting
