Board creates Rainy Day fund to offset state cuts

The SGCS Board of School Trustees approved Policy 7434 at the January 18 meeting to make Smith-Green Community Schools a complete smoke-free campus, effective beginning with the 2010-2011 school year, with a vote of 4-1. School Board Secretary Nick Uecker voted against the policy.
Cornerstone students recently completed the second nine weeks grading period. The following students are on the second quarter Honor Roll.

New Churubusco Town Council President, Frank Kessler, presided over his first meeting.
Churubusco residents would see another increase in their water bills. This was to be the final installation of a planned increase to help fund a new water treatment plant.

The SG Board of School Trustees held its first meeting of the new year. The officers stayed the same as the prior year with Tanya Young president and Cathy Petrie vice-president.
All 2008 Churubusco Chamber of Commerce officers were reinstated for 2009. Jim Horne was president, DeeDee McCoy, executive secretary, Beth Brown secretary, Chris Tomlinson, vice-president and John Schmidt, treasurer.
