Churubusco hosts county golf match

CHURUBUSCO — Whitley County’s golf teams began match play last week at Eel River Golf Course.

Columbia City came away with the win at 163 strokes, followed by Churubusco with 170 and Whitko at 203.

Columbia City’s Nick Decker was match medalist with 38 strokes, followed by Churubusco’s Trey Mayer and Columbia City’s Spencer McCammon, who carded 39s.

Scoring for Churubusco were: Mike Erwin, 41; Wyatt Gillenwater, 41; Reece Partin, 49; and Dakota Barkley, 52.

Other scores for Columbia City Tuesday evening include: Zach Harker, 43; Garrett Roehling, 43; and Cameron Hall, 45.

Whitko has four golfers on its team this season. Scorers included: Cade Bechtold, 46; Tim Gensch, 48; Kaleb Busz, 48; and Cole Cmar, 61.

Angola 152,

Churubusco 161,

Central Noble 226

Churubusco’s boys golf team fell to Angola, but defeated Central Noble with scores of 152, 161 and 226 at Eel River Golf Course.

Mike Erwin led the Eagles and was match medalist with 36 strokes. Trey Mayer followed with a 41. Wyatt Gillenwater and Dakota Barkley both carded 42s. Wyatt Johnson wasn’t far behind with a score of 44.

Angola’s Noah Schoenherr led for the winning team with 37 strokes.

Canterbury 156, Churubusco 175

Churubusco traveled to Chestnut Hills Golf Course in Fort Wayne to face Canterbury. The Eagles fell 156-175. The Eagles were led by Trey Mayer who scored a 37, followed by Mike Erwin with a 41. Other varsity scores include: Wyatt Gillenwater, 45; Reece Partin, 52; and Dakota Barkley, 53.
