Charles Everett Sloan

Born Deember 16, 1929 in Greentown, Ind., he was the son of John and Rhea (Shaffer) Sloan. He was a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University, and taught for 25 years at Churubusco, and most recently with the advanced science classes at Carroll High School. He worked at Gladiex Refinery until it closed. He was a lifetime member LaOtto Wesleyan Church, for many years, he and his wife, Jean (Traver) owned U-pick Blueberry Acres Farm where he enjoyed helping customers fill their pails. Together they aised five children grounded in the Christian faith.

Surviving are his wife, Jean; children (and their spouses), Tom Sloan, a recruiter for Indiana Wesleyan University, Dr. Dale Sloan, a general surgeon, Dr. Ron Sloan, a family physician, Mrs. Bonnie Mowat, a lab technician and pastors wife, Mrs. Patricia Rogers, a director of nursing; fourteen grandchildren and their spouses; and two great-grandchildren.

Celebration service is 10 a.m. Saturday, Octobr 2, 2010, at LaOtto Wesleyan Church, LaOtto.
