Smartboards take the place of chalkboards in the classrooms and provide interactivity with the students.
The Elementary PTO holds various fundraising events throughout the year and has been very integral in the smartboard purchases in the past.
“The PTO has been tremendous for years,” said Board President Tanya Young during the Smith-Green school board meeting on Monday.
In addition to the smartboard purchases, the PTO also has plans to help the school with student field trips.
In other Board news:
• Granted a medical leave request for CES teacher Cindy Bartlett.
• Approved an agreement for the use of school buildings and equipment to be used by the Red Cross to provide services for individuals and families in case of emergency.
• Superintendent Steve Darnell announced the results of the 2010 Indiana P.L. 221 for Smith-Green Community Schools. He reported overall the school system is on “academic watch.” Individually, the high school and middle school are on “academic watch.” The status of the elementary school is on “academic progress.”
The next regular scheduled board meeting is on Monday, November 1, at 7 p.m. in the Administration Building.
